Pasman



Pašman is an island off the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia, located to the south of Zadar, surrounded by the islands Ugljan, Iž, Dugi otok and Kornati. The municipality of Pašman is inhabited by 2,004 people (2001).

There are 11 villages on Pašman, from SE to NW: Tkon, Ugrinić, Kraj, Pašman, Mali Pašman, Barotul, [Mrljane], Neviđane, Dobropoljana, Banj, Ždrelac.

Island Pasman Croatia

Among all islands in Croatian archipelago it is Pašman that has the biggest green surface considering its total area. And it is the 12th island in Croatian archipelago in land area. It is also known to have the cleanest water in the adriatic due to the current constantly changing.

The number of inhabitants on the island is 3349. The highest summit is Bokolj with 272m. On the western side is the island from the limestone, in the east from the dolomite with smaller part of yield-rich fern-like layers.

In the proximity of the island the sea current change the direction after 6 hours, therefore the sea is one the purest in the Adria. The western coast is arranged and is rich at bays (particularly in the southeast). The larger sea bays is: Polača, Taline, Triluke, Lanđin, Soline and Kablin. At the little arranged east coast along are all island settlements: Tkon, Kraj, Pašman, Mrljane, Neviđane, Dobropoljana, Banj and Ždrelac.

Economic activity is agriculture, Viticulture, Fruit-growing, Cattle breeding, the fishery and tourism. The island along the regional traffic route runs. The island is already settled starting from primeval times (illyrische certifications, Roman place of discovery Pašman, Banj).

On the southwest coast St. Ante is the before-Roman church. Of 1050 it became in the possession of the Biograd parish, it is from 1126 in the possession of the Zadar parish.
